This Is Not a Government Office. Greensville County Criminal History is privately operated. It cannot issue, correct, seal, or certify a record, process an official check, or accept a court filing.
Need an Official Record?
Use the office tied to the document or event. A court clerk cannot supply the Sheriff's incident narrative, and the jail roster does not replace a final disposition:
- Felony files and certified Circuit copies: Greensville Circuit Court Clerk, 337 South Main Street, Emporia, VA 23847; 434-348-4215; office hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Misdemeanor, bond, and preliminary-hearing files: Greensville Combined District Court, 315 South Main Street, Emporia, VA 23847; 434-634-5400; office hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Sheriff incident and arrest reports: Greensville County Sheriff's Office, 174 Uriah Branch Way, Emporia, VA 23847; 434-348-4200; fax 434-634-9615
- Current local custody and booking: Meherrin River Regional Jail, 9000 Boydton Plank Road, Alberta, VA 23821; 434-949-6700
- Virginia identity-based history: use the Virginia State Police SP-167 request process; the public route requires a notarized mail request
- Expungement or sealing: begin with the Circuit Court tied to the charge and use the current Virginia statute
The Sheriff does not publish a separately named records division, local copy-fee schedule, or set records-counter hours. Call 434-348-4200 before visiting. Requests may also be sent to gcso@greensvillecountyva.gov or faxed to 434-634-9615. Identify the incident, date range, record type, and preferred delivery format with reasonable detail, then ask for a cost estimate under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.
